Episode 39 When Breastfeeding Helps You Step Into Your Power
Giving birth and breastfeeding can be incredibly empowering, but more often than not, it isn’t without struggle.
Receiving help from a trained breastfeeding professional during the first few days, weeks and months of your baby’s life can be the deciding factor between a successful breastfeeding experience and an unsuccessful one. It’s important to remember that great prenatal education and support can empower the journey of breastfeeding.
In today’s episode, elementary school teacher and mother to three-year-old Gus, Stephanie Wrona, shares her experiences of how getting the right kind of help really defined her breastfeeding journey.
From getting support from a lactation consultant to treating postpartum anxiety with talk therapy and the right medication, it took her speaking up and speaking out to find what worked for her.
Stephanie’s advice for the first few weeks boils down to planning nothing, giving yourself grace and focusing on learning your baby. She also discusses the usefulness of support groups, and opens up about how she had to navigate breastfeeding based on her breast size.
Tune in to learn about the different types of support you can and should be getting before, during and after your breastfeeding journey!
